Utah Young Playwrights Festival
Any Utah junior high or high school student who is registered for the UTA Conference 2014 is eligible to submit a script to the playwriting festival. Scripts are read and adjudicated, and student playwrights are given written feedback from the judges. Outstanding scripts receive staged readings at the conference, and the top playwrights are presented with cash awards. Check out the playwriting festival guidelines; scripts must be submitted by November 18, 2013. Questions about the Utah Young Playwright’s Festival can be directed to Mitzi Mecham at Logan High School.

Play Production Synopses
Please open the Production Synopses Guide to see what full-length and studio plays are being produced at the conference.
Student Workshops – Workshop topics at the conference cover all aspects of theatre from play writing to movement to acting technique to design to stage management and everything in between. For an idea of topics that are taught, please see last year’s conference program. We are always looking for new instructors; if you know of anyone who would be willing to teach a workshop at the conference, please email Alane Schultz the name, topic, and phone number so we can contact him/her about teaching.
Teachers Only Classes—Some workshops are available to adults only – teachers, student teachers, chaperones, community theatre representatives, etc. These workshops are a great opportunity for you to take classes with adults, get to know other teachers, and get away from your students. They will also give you curriculum ideas in new activities and exercises and how to teach theatre concepts, etc., to your students. Attendance at the double-session Teacher Master Class is highly encouraged for all educators at the conference and is necessary to qualify for full licensure points.
If you have a company or know of a company that should come to the conference as an exhibitor, please contact Kristi Shaw and pass the suggestion along. There is no cost to exhibit at the conference.
